About

Kitchen April

I found my passion for food in high school. Living in the small town of Alamogordo, New Mexico, good gourmet food was hard to find. Roasted chiles and the most amazing tamales however, were a dime a dozen. But, sadly any of the tiny restaurants that opened giving a glimmer of hope to the culinary education of that small town went out of business even before the paint dried on their exterior.

The moment I graduated I knew I would find my way to San Francisco, a culinary gold-mine, and the California Culinary Academy. I was hungry to learn what the rest of the world had on the menu.

Food impacts everyone on a daily basis, it’s truly rewarding to know that with just a taste you can evoke emotions, memories, and euphoria. Who knew one plate could hold so much power.

In 2006, I started Whisking it All, my very own business that specializes in all things food related. I contracted with Sunset Magazine and managed their Hospitality Kitchen. My responsibility was to bring Sunset Magazine to life so advertisers of the magazine could truly experience the west and all it encompasses.

I currently help develop and test recipes for cookbook authors and food companies. You can find many of my creations in Weber’s Way to Grill.

I can be reached at april@madisonsquaremeal.com. Cheers!
